On July 15 (local time), a delivery ceremony for 895 N-series pure electric buses manufactured by Zhongtong Bus was successfully held in Santiago, the capital of Chile. The event was organized by Chile’s Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications.

All 895 units will be deployed in the public transportation system of the Santiago Metropolitan Region, marking a new milestone in the cooperation between China and Chile in the field of new energy transportation. With the official delivery of this fleet, Santiago's public transit sector is set to experience a significant upgrade in service quality and environmental sustainability.

As one of the more economically developed countries in Latin America, Chile has attached great importance to environmental protection and sustainable development in recent years. The government has set a national goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, with the electrification of public transportation being one of its core strategies.

In the Santiago Metropolitan Region, the Chilean government continues to invest heavily in electric transport infrastructure, such as increasing the number of electric bus stations. The target is to raise the share of electric buses to 68% by 2026, accelerating the shift toward greener public transit and supporting climate goals.

Zhongtong Bus has become an essential player in Chile’s green transport transformation. As one of the world’s earliest enterprises to engage in the R&D and promotion of new energy buses, Zhongtong has earned the trust of both the Chilean government and local markets with its reliable products and customized service solutions.

A spokesperson for the Chilean government expressed high praise for Chinese technology and products. The arrival of 895 Zhongtong electric buses is a tangible action in the joint efforts of China and Chile to combat climate change. It is also a key step in Chile’s green public transport revolution, expected to significantly improve air quality and residents’ quality of life in Santiago.

Amid global economic changes and shifting international landscapes, the bus industry and its supply chain are undergoing major transformation. Zhongtong Bus has long prioritized its international development strategy and continued to expand its overseas market presence.

Zhongtong first entered the Chilean market in 2007. Nearly two decades of dedication have led to a comprehensive breakthrough in both products and market share.

From intercity transport to mining commuter shuttles, from urban routes to rural bus systems, and from conventional fuel to green energy—Zhongtong Bus has become the leading Chinese bus brand in Chile by market share.

Meeting user demands with tailored, localized solutions has been key to Zhongtong’s success. Customized buses designed based on local road conditions, regulations, operational requirements, and passenger habits have enabled the vehicles to better adapt to Chile’s natural and cultural environment, providing the best solution for public transit transformation.

Beyond Santiago, Zhongtong’s electric buses have also become the preferred green mobility choice in cities such as Arica, Antofagasta, Rancagua, and Concepción.

Zhongtong’s success in Chile reflects its broader achievements in the global new energy market. Today, its new energy buses operate in countries including Portugal, Singapore, the UAE, Denmark, Bulgaria, Argentina, and Egypt.

Looking ahead, Zhongtong Bus will continue to pursue innovation-driven development, further enhance its electrification, premium product offerings, and internationalization strategies. With powerful products and solutions, Zhongtong aims to support global green mobility transformation.
