The space where the engine piston moves is called the cylinder, and the inner surface of the cylinder is cylindrical. The piston is hinged with one end of the connecting rod through the piston pin, and the other end of the connecting rod is connected with the crankshaft to form a crank connecting rod mechanism. The top end of the cylinder is closed with a cylinder head. The cylinder head is equipped with an inlet valve and an exhaust valve, which are hung upside down on the cylinder head. The parts that make up the cylinder are called the cylinder block, the parts that support the crankshaft are called the crankcase, and the cylinder block and crankcase are collectively called the engine block.

The function of the fuel supply system is to supply the required fuel regularly and quantitatively according to the working requirements of the engine. The fuel supply system of the gasoline engine consists of the gasoline tank, gasoline pump, filter, fuel injector, exhaust muffler, air filter, intake and exhaust pipes, pressure regulator, various sensors, electronic fuel injector, electronic control unit, etc. The fuel supply system of the diesel engine consists of the diesel tank, fuel delivery pump, filter, fuel injection pump, governor, fuel injector, etc.
The function of the ignition system is to ignite the combustible mixture in the cylinder of the gasoline engine at the specified time. It consists of battery, ignition switch, ignition coil , sensor, electronic control unit, spark plug, etc.
The function of the lubrication system is to lubricate, seal, clean and cool. It consists of oil pan, oil pump, oil filter, oil pressure gauge, oil passage, etc.
The function of the cooling system is to keep the engine working at a suitable temperature. It is composed of cooling water pump, fan, thermostat, radiator, cooling water jacket, etc.
The function of the starting system is to start the engine. It consists of battery, starting switch, starter, etc.
